Dorogie druzia, I am sorry for writing in English, I can understand Russian a little bit but cannot write it well. You can answer me in Russian, English, or French, whichever you prefer, I will be delighted at your response. I have come across the web site of the ABIS club, and it brought back a lot of fond memories. Quite a few years ago (in 1989) a group of my Belgian friends and I (together with the Moscow speleologists) have traveled to the Caucasus to explore the Iliuhin cave. At one point, we stopped by your camp and made an acquaintance with a few guys from Kishinev. I was together with my friend Jean Michel van Dyck, I don’t know if any of your remember our meeting. At present I live in the United States, in the Boston area, where I teach French and European History in one of the small colleges. I am still interested in speleology, although I no longer pursue it actively. I do quite a bit of research on the internet to keep up with the news in the field; I like to correspond with like-minded people. With warm greetings, Claude Lassiege P.S. Рад Вас услышать, Claude! Очень приятно получить привет из того далекого времени!
Я помню нашу встречу. Я тогда был руководителем тех разгильдяев, которые "few guys from Kishinev". После той встречи мы еще несколько лет рассказывали новичкам о том, как истинные спелеологи в незнакомой стране спускаются на побережье пешком за туалетной бумагой :)) Для меня лично самое сильное воспоминание, оставшееся с того момента - общий ужин. Хорошо помню испуганные глаза людей, впервые в жизни увидевшие гречневую(или перловую?) кашу с тушонкой и невысказанный вопрос - "неужели это можно есть???". Потом все дружно попросили дополнительную порцию :)) Мы по прежнему работаем в пещерах на Арабике, правда немного в другом районе - в долине Орто-Балаган, где этим летом украинскими спелеологами в пещере Крубера/Воронья была достигнута рекордная глубина -2080м. Из той группы 1989-го года трое человек этим летом работали на Арабике. Передавайте наши наилучшие пожелания Вашим друзьям, которые тогда были в нашем лагере. I remember our meeting. I then was the leader of those "few guys from Kishinev ". After that meeting we some more years told to beginners about how true cave explorers in the unfamiliar country on foot go down at coast for purchase of a toilet paper:)) For me personally the strongest memoirs which has stayed from this meeting - our supper together. Well I remember the scared eyes of people, for the first time in life seen buckwheat (or pearl-barley?) with "тушенкой"(dont know correct English word) and a unexpressed question - "really it it is possible to eat??? ". Then all have asked an additional portion few later :)) Now we still work in caves on Arabika, but it is a little in the other area - in valley Orto-Balagan, where this summer the Ukrainian cave explorers in a cave of Krubera/Voronia crows had been achieved record depth - 2080м. From that group(1989a.) three participants in this summer still worked on Arabika. Transfer our best regards to your friends who were in our camp in far 1989. SY, Gleb Reabuhin. --- P.S. After Moldova has claimed her independence (mainly, from the basic necessities), our club members were scattered around the world. We have received controversial information from the Ukraine regarding the discoveries in the Voronia cave. The information seems very confusing and very much like the rest of the Ukrainian politics at the moment – muddled with power struggle. Can you shed more light on what is really going on? Stein, give my best regards to Cristos Nicola. He is a good friend of mine. Thanks for the pictures, they are gorgeous. I am sending you mine. I have made plans to be in New Jersey for St. Valentine’s day. I will be passing through New York, and maybe we can arrange a meeting? Перевожу, блин! Дорогие друзья! С Новым Годом! Большое спасибо всем, кто мне ответил. Глеб, спасибо тебе за информацию об Арабике. Mы получили противоречивую информацию с Украины об открытиях в пещере Воронья. Информация кажется запутанной и похожа на всю остальную украинскую политику в данный момент. Можете ли вы объяснить, что происходит? Штейн, большой привет Кристосу Николе. Он мой большой друг. Спасибо за фотографии, они великолепны. Высылаю свои. Я собираюсь провести День Св. Валентина в Нью Джерси. Буду проездом в Нью-Йорке, можем встретиться. Мой друг Жан Мишель ван Дик встретил в Брюсселе этим летом русского парня из вашего клуба. К сожалению, я не помню его имени. Я хорошо понимаю английский текст, но мне тяжело говорить по английски - это большая разница.
К сожалению, некоторая конфликтная ситуация действительно есть. Надеюсь, что в будущем этот конфликт будет успешно разрешен. В любом случае работа в Вороньей продолжается, и в этом году нас ждут новые результаты. Так, в настоящее время туда уехала очередная группа(московская), которая будет работать в Вороньей с 4-го по 25-го января. Летом планируется большая украинская экспедиция. Я хочу уточнить информацию по глубине Вороньей из моего предыдущего сообщения. Хронология такова: в июле 2004 московской группой достигнута глубина -1770м(сифон), в августе 2004 украинской экспедицией найдено другой продолжение с отметки примерно -1600м и достигнута глубина -1820м(сифон). Глубина -2080м была достигнута в только октябре, украинской группой, которая нашла обход сифона и опять вышла в новую часть пещеры. I well understand the English text, but it is hard for me to speak in English - this is a big difference.
Unfortunately, some disputed situation really is. I hope, that in the future this conflict will be successfully resolved. In any case work in Voronia proceeds, and this year we are waited with new results. So, now on Arabika there has gone the next group (Moscow) which will work in Voronia from January, 4-th till January, 25-th. The big Ukrainian expedition in the summer is planned. I want to specify the information about Voronia depth, from my previous message. The chronology is those: in July 2004 Moscow group achieves depth -1770m(siphon), in August 2004 big Ukrainian expedition finds another continuation from a mark approximately -1600m and depth -1820m(siphon) is achieved. Depth -2080m has been achieved in only October, the following Ukrainian group which has found detour of a siphon and has again left in a new interesting part of a cave. Yes.... What can I tell? As all the same the world is VERY small and VERY close... Very similar, that this "Russian guy in Brussels" was Dmitriev Petr. Claude, whether probably to specify at Jean Michel his name? It is important for us as Dmitriev Petr for a long time lives in Brussels and we have no communication with him. In 1989a, when you was in our camp, he was the leader of second our group which worked on Arabika - in cave Berchilskaia, where we work now (in 2004г). Мышь, адрес этот я знаю, и несколько раз на него писал. Так как ответа не было ни разу, я считал, что адрес мертвый. Раз тебе что-то оттуда пришло, значит письма он читал, но не ответил. Видимо, просто нет желания... что грустно... с Петрухой связана целая эпоха в нашей истории... |
