RULES & PROCEDURES
2003 PIANO COMPETITION

1. This Competition will consist of the following Rounds:

PRELIMINARIES:

Judging of recordings and selection of ten (10) SEMIFINALISTS and five (5) ALTERNATES. Alternates will be expected to replace any SEMIFINALIST who is unable to participate in the competition.

REPERTOIRE: Works chosen by the applicant, representing at least four (4) different periods: 1) work by J.S. Bach 2) work by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert, 3) Romantic or Impressionistic, 4) Contemporary (written on or after 1917). Complete works are required. Recording of at least 60 minutes is required (see application requirements)

Please list on typewritten sheets of your PRELIMINARIES REPERTOIRE the concertos you have performed with orchestra. Certain orchestras have engaged our previous winners to perform and similar invitations are anticipated for the 2003 competition.

SEMIFINALS:

Public performance of no more than 50 minutes by each of the ten contestants, before the panel of Competition Judges in San Antonio, Texas, October 26-November 1, 2003.

REPERTOIRE: A balanced recital program containing one selection from each period listed above, including the commissioned work in place of the Contemporary category. The commissioned work will be 6-8 minutes duration

FINALS: Public performance of no more than 50 minutes by each of the five Finalists, before the panel of competition judges.

REPERTOIRE: A balanced recital program containing one selection from each period listed above. MUST NOT REPEAT WORKS PERFORMED ON SEMIFINAL PROGRAM.

WINNERS' CONCERT:

Public performance by First, Second and Third Prize Winners, in addition to Winner of "Best Performance of the Commissioned Work." First Prize Winner will perform no longer than thirty (30) minutes actual playing time. Second and Third Prize Winners will perform no longer than twenty (20) minutes each.

REPERTOIRE: Winner's Choice.

2. Contestants should be aware that they are judged on program selection as well as on performance. THE STATED PLAYING TIMES ARE MANDATORY. For the SEMIFINALS and FINALS, each contestant must make available to the Judging Panel, at their request, any scores of unusual or non-standard works not available in our library.

3. One rehearsal will be allotted before the SEMIFINAL and FINAL competitions at the auditorium. Individual time slots will be assigned to the contestant for practice (on stage) on the instrument of the contestant's choice.

4. SEMIFINALS and FINALS will be open to the public. The order of appearance will be by random drawing. No changes will be made in the order of appearance except at the discretion of the Chairperson of the Judging panel.

5. Voting in all three levels will be by confidential ballot based on a standard scoring system. All decisions of the judges are final and will not be subject to appeal.

6. Any judge having family, coaching, or professional relationship with a contestant, must declare relationship and abstain from voting on that contestant's performance.

7. Contestants will not be permitted to make contact or speak with any member of the Judging panel during the competition, at the risk of being disqualified.

8. All applicants will be advised by July 1, 2003, of their selection or elimination after the PRELIMINARIES judging. Contestants selected for the competition must mail their formal acknowledgment and agreement to perform in San Antonio, Texas, to SAIPC no later than August 1, 2003. At that time, you are required to enclose three (3) black & white, glossy, 8"x10" recent photographs of yourself and a brief biography for publicity purposes.

9. NO REPERTOIRE CHANGES WILL BE ALLOWED AFTER SEPTEMBER 1, 2003.

10. Contestants selected for this competition must pay their own travel expenses to and from San Antonio, Texas, and arrive by 4:00 P.M. for the dinner and briefing, October 26, 2003. Each contestant will stay with a host family during the week of the competition. Careful efforts are made to match the host family with the contestant, based on the needs and circum- stances. This information will be sent to you before your arrival.

11. SAIPC has commissioned a six to eight minute composition for this competition. Contestants will be sent the score for this work by August 1, 2003, to permit ample time for its memorization. This score will be performed by each contestant during the SEMIFINALS.The winner of this category will perform the work on the WINNERS' CONCERT.

12. If requested, the PRIZE WINNERS will agree to perform a Recital, without charge, for the benefit of the NINTH SAN ANTONIO INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION, to be held in the year 2006.

13. No professional commitments during the competition will be allowed.

Очень правильный вопрос. НЕУЖЕЛИ никто не может сказать товарищу, что в первом сообщении на этой странице (подчеркнутая зеленым цветом) есть ссылка на сайт конкурса, и если на нее случайно нажать то попадешь на другую странице где черным по белому (по рууски написано)
