	INTERNATIONAL COMPOSITION COMPETITION FRANCO EVANGELISTI 2005 Associazione Nuova Consonanza announces the VIII edition of the “Franco Evangelisti” Competition. The Competition is open this year to composers of any nationality without restriction of age and is restricted to compositions for the Bayan Accordion in chamber music. There are two categories: • compositions for bayan accordion solo • compositions for bayan accordion in ensemble (from trio to quintet) In the second category, chamber compositions will be taken into consideration which foresee in addition to the bayan: 1 flute (also piccolo, G flute, bass flute), 1 clarinet (also Eb clarinet, alto clarinet, bass clarinet), 1 violin, 1 cello, utilizing either all or some of these instruments, from trio to quintet with bayan obligatory. The scores, in seven anonymous copies, should be sent to the secretariat of the Association (via Pietro Borsieri 20, 00195 Rome, Italy) not later than 15 September 2005 (certified by the post office stamp). The compositions, of a maximum duration of 10 minutes, can have been already performed but must not have been awarded a prize in any other competition. Composers can enter more than one composition. Each score must be accompanied by a motto and by a sealed envelope containing: personal details of the composer (forename, surname, date of birth, nationality, address, telephone number, email, photocopy of identity card), detailed curriculum vitae, receipt confirming payment of the registration fee and declaration certifying that the composition has not been awarded a prize in other competitions. The registration fee is 50 euro for each composition entered.The fee can be paid in Italy by crediting post office account no. 99243008 in the name of Associazione Nuova Consonanza and abroad by postal money order made out to Associazione Nuova Consonanza, via Pietro Borsieri 20, 00195 Rome, Italy. Scores will not be returned but will be kept in the Archives of Nuova Consonanza. As in previous editions of the Competition, there will be a preliminary selection phase of six finalist scores (three for category 1 and three for category 2). The selected scores will be performed by Germano Scurti and by the Alter Ego ensemble on 10 December 2005 during the course of the 42° Nuova Consonanza Festival in the presence of their composers as guests, who will be responsible for supplying the necessary performance material. The prize-winning compositions will be announced at the end of the concert, following the Jury’s decision which is not open to question. Members of the Jury: Azio Corghi (chairman- Italy), Bernard Cavanna (France), Pascal Contet (France), Ada Gentile (Italy), Fausto Sebastiani (Italy), Mika Väyrynen (Finland), Vladimir Zubitsky (Ukraina). There will be a First Prize of 2.000 euro for each category, divisible in the case of ex aequo. In addition, the two prizes will be published by Edizioni Suvini Zerboni and broadcast by Rai-Radiotelevisione Italiana Radio3. The Jury reserves the right (a) not to award any prize and (b) to give special mention to particularly meritorious works. In the event of controversy, only the original Italian-language text is legally valid.
